The Kaiserbruendl-Herrensauna (the former Centralbad) has always been known to be the oldest and most elegant bathing establishment in Vienna. The unusual depth and wealth of the house-owned well was appreciated even by the Romans, proven by the discovery of coins showing the illustrous heads of the emperors Heliogabal and Alexander Severus.
In the 19th century the "Centralbad" (by that time the only remaining bath house in the city centre) grew to be a place of greatest social prestige. In order to remember the visits of the three imperial majesties Franz Josef of Austria, Don Pedro the Second of Brazil and Nasir-ad-Din, it was renamed into "Kaiserbruendl", meaning the "Emperors' Well".
The Kaiserbruendl is a historic turkish bath, opening its doors in 1889 for the first time. It's located in the historic city center, a few steps from St. Stephen's Cathedral and right next to the Franciscans' Monastery - these fact itself is already erotical.....
